WARNING

■ Items that should not be left in the vehicle

Do not leave eyeglasses, spray cans, or similar heat-sensitive items in the storage compartments. When the Toyota RAV4 cabin becomes extremely hot, stored objects may be damaged or create a safety hazard.

• Eyeglasses may become deformed by heat or may crack if they come into contact with other objects stored in the same compartment.

Glove box

1. Unlock the glove box using the mechanical key.
2. Lock the glove box using the mechanical key.
3. Pull up the lever to open the glove box.

WARNING

■ Caution while driving

Keep the glove box closed while the vehicle is moving. During sudden braking, abrupt steering, or a collision, an occupant could be struck by the open glove box or by objects thrown from inside it, resulting in injury.

Console box

Press the release button while lifting the lid to unlock and open the console box. The compartment provides convenient enclosed storage between the front seats.

■ Console box tray (if equipped)

The removable tray can be lifted out when access to the lower compartment is required. When the tray is not needed, it can be stored at the bottom of the console box.

■ Caution while driving

Keep the console box securely closed while driving.

An open lid or unsecured objects inside the compartment may cause injury during sudden braking, abrupt steering, or a collision.

Cup holders

Rear

Lower the rear center armrest to access the cup holders provided for rear-seat passengers.

WARNING

■ Items unsuitable for the cup holders

Do not place anything other than cups or beverage cans in the cup holders.

Unsuitable objects must not be stored in the cup holders, even when they have lids or appear to fit securely.

During sudden braking or a collision, other objects may be thrown from the holders and cause injury. Whenever possible, keep hot beverages covered to reduce the risk of burns if the contents spill.

■ Bottle holders

• Make sure the cap is fully closed before placing a bottle in a holder to help prevent liquid from spilling inside the Toyota RAV4.
• Some bottles may not fit securely because of their size or shape. Confirm that the bottle is stable before driving.

■ Items unsuitable for the bottle holders

Do not place anything other than a properly closed bottle in the bottle holders.

Other objects may be thrown out during sudden braking, abrupt steering, or a collision and could strike an occupant or interfere with vehicle operation.

NOTICE

■ Items that should not be stored in the bottle holders

Do not place open bottles, drinking glasses, or paper cups containing liquid in the bottle holders. Their contents may spill and damage the interior, while glass containers may break.

Auxiliary boxes

Press the lid to release the latch and open the auxiliary box. Make sure the lid is closed securely after storing or removing an item.

Do not leave the auxiliary box open while the vehicle is moving.

The open lid or objects released from the compartment may cause injury during sudden braking, abrupt steering, or an accident.

WARNING

■ Items unsuitable for storage

Do not store objects weighing more than 0.4 lb. (0.2 kg) in the auxiliary box.

Excessive weight may cause the auxiliary box to open unexpectedly, allowing the stored items to fall out and potentially contributing to an accident or injury.

WARNING

■ Items unsuitable for the open tray

Observe the following precautions when placing objects in an open tray. Failure to secure items properly may allow them to be thrown from the tray during sudden braking or abrupt steering. Loose objects may interfere with pedal operation, distract the Toyota RAV4 driver, or strike an occupant, increasing the risk of an accident.

• Do not store objects that can easily slide, roll, or fall out of the tray.
• Do not stack objects higher than the upper edge of the tray.
• Do not place objects in the tray if any part of them protrudes beyond the tray's edge.

Cargo hooks

Raise each cargo hook when it is needed.

The cargo hooks are designed to help secure loose items in the Toyota RAV4 luggage compartment. Use suitable straps or cords to reduce unwanted cargo movement while driving.

WARNING

■ When the cargo hooks are not in use

To reduce the risk of injury, always return the cargo hooks to their fully stowed positions when they are not being used. Raised hooks may contact cargo or occupants handling items in the luggage compartment.

Deck board

■ Flipping the deck board upside down

The deck board can be turned upside down so that the resin surface faces upward when this configuration is more suitable for the items being carried. Select the surface according to the current cargo and loading conditions.

■ Changing the deck board positions

The height of the deck board can be changed by installing it in the upper or lower position above the underfloor storage area. This allows the luggage compartment layout to be adjusted according to the size and shape of the cargo.

1. Pull the tab upward to raise the deck board, and then move the board toward you to remove it from its current position.

2. Insert the deck board through the appropriate groove, and then move it forward until it is correctly seated in the selected position.

■ Setting the deck board upright

When removing tools or other items from the deck under tray, if equipped, the deck board can be secured in an upright position to provide easier access to the storage space below.

If the reverse side of the deck board, with the resin surface, is facing upward, turn the board back to its original orientation before placing it upright.

1. Pull the tab upward to raise the deck board, and then fold the board forward.

2. Insert the edge of the deck board into groove (A). While holding the board upright, fit the edge securely into holes (B).

WARNING

■ When operating the deck board

Do not place any objects on the deck board while raising, lowering, removing, or repositioning it.

Objects may shift unexpectedly, or your fingers may become trapped between the board and the surrounding luggage compartment components, resulting in injury.

■ Caution while driving

Keep the deck board securely closed and correctly installed while the vehicle is moving.

During sudden braking, abrupt steering, or a collision, an unsecured deck board or objects stored underneath it may move and strike an occupant, causing an accident or injury.

Deck Under Tray Toyota RAV4 fifth generation

Pull the lifting tab upward to raise the deck board, and then fold the board forward to access the deck under tray.

When the reverse resin surface of the deck board is being used, remove the deck board completely before attempting to access the storage area underneath.

WARNING

■ Caution while driving

Keep the deck board closed and properly secured while driving.

In the event of sudden braking or a collision, the deck board or items stored in the deck under tray may move unexpectedly and strike an occupant, resulting in injury.

■ Removing the partition plate

Disengage the retaining claws carefully, and then remove the partition plate from the auxiliary box.

Luggage cover (if equipped)

■ Installing the luggage cover

1. Compress both ends of the luggage cover assembly and insert them into the corresponding recesses. Confirm that both ends are correctly seated before releasing them.

2. Pull the luggage cover rearward and attach it securely to the left and right anchors. Make sure the cover is evenly extended and properly supported.

■ Removing the luggage cover

1. Release the luggage cover from the left and right anchors, and guide it carefully as it retracts into its housing.

2. Compress one end of the luggage cover assembly, disengage it from the recess, and then lift the complete cover upward to remove it.

■ Stowing the luggage cover

1. Open the rear deck board and remove the side deck covers to access the designated luggage cover storage area.

If the deck board is installed with its reverse resin surface facing upward, remove the deck board before attempting to store the luggage cover.

2. Place both ends of the luggage cover into the designated holders, making sure the assembly is fully seated and cannot move freely inside the Toyota RAV4 luggage compartment.

WARNING

■ Luggage cover

• When installing or stowing the luggage cover, make sure it is securely attached or correctly seated in its storage holders. Improper installation may allow the cover to move during sudden braking or a collision, resulting in serious injury.
• Do not place luggage or any other objects on top of the cover. During sudden braking, abrupt cornering, or a collision, these objects may be thrown forward and strike an occupant, potentially causing death or serious injury.
• Do not allow children to sit, stand, or climb on the luggage cover. The cover is not designed to support a person's weight and may collapse or become damaged, potentially causing death or serious injury.

NOTICE

■ To prevent damage to the luggage cover

Do not place any objects on top of the luggage cover. When the cover retracts, objects may become trapped in the mechanism, damaging the cover, preventing smooth operation, or creating unwanted noise while the Toyota RAV4 is being driven.
