  2. Adjustment bolt B

Before checking the headlight aim

  • Make sure the Toyota RAV4 has a full tank of gasoline and confirm that the bodywork around each headlight is not bent or deformed.
  • Park the vehicle on firm, level ground so that its position does not distort the headlight aim.
  • Adjust all tires to the specified inflation pressure before checking the light alignment.
  • Have one person sit in the driver’s seat to represent normal vehicle loading during the adjustment.
  • Bounce the vehicle several times to allow the suspension to settle into a stable position.

Adjusting the headlight aim

1. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, turn adjustment bolt A in the required direction.

Record the direction and exact number of turns so the same adjustment can be applied to bolt B.

2. Turn adjustment bolt B by the same number of turns and in the same direction used for bolt A. Make the adjustment carefully and avoid applying excessive force to either bolt.

If the headlight aim cannot be corrected by following this procedure, have a Toyota dealer inspect and adjust the headlights professionally.
