The indicated fuel level may temporarily differ from the actual quantity in the tank under the conditions listed below. Refer to P.85 if the fuel gauge does not return to an accurate display.

    • A limited quantity of fuel is added.
    • The tank is refueled while the gauge is close to or already indicates "F".
    • The vehicle is stopped on an uneven or inclined surface.
    • The vehicle is traveling uphill, downhill, or around a curve.
  5. Engine coolant temperature gauge
Shows the engine coolant temperature and enables the driver to monitor changes in engine operating temperature.
  6. Odometer and trip meter
    Odometer:
Records and displays the total distance the vehicle has been driven.
    Trip meter:
Measures the distance traveled since the meter was most recently reset. Trip meters "A" and "B" can be reset and used separately for different journeys or distance records.
  7. Outside temperature
Displays the measured ambient temperature outside the vehicle.
  8. Multi-information display
Provides the driver with various forms of driving data and information about vehicle operation.
When a malfunction or relevant operating condition is detected, the display presents an appropriate warning message.
  9. Shift position and shift range indicator
Identifies the selected shift position or active shift range so it can be checked at a glance.

■ The meters and display illuminate when

The meters and multi-information display illuminate when the engine switch is turned to ON, allowing the driver to review current vehicle information and system status before driving the Toyota RAV4.

■ When changing driving mode

  • The speedometer color changes to correspond with the currently selected driving mode, providing a clear visual indication of the active setting.
  • AWD models: The speedometer color changes according to the selected driving mode or Multi-terrain Select mode, making the current configuration easier to recognize at a glance.

■ Manually updating the fuel gauge and possible driving range

The fuel gauge and possible driving range display operate together. After only a small amount of fuel is added, both readings may not update immediately. If this occurs, the fuel level and estimated driving range shown in the Toyota RAV4 can be refreshed manually by completing the following procedure.

1. Park the vehicle on a firm, level surface and make sure it remains stationary throughout the procedure.

2. Press the "ODO TRIP" switch until the odometer, rather than either trip meter, is shown on the display.

3. Turn the engine switch off.

4. While pressing and holding the "ODO TRIP" switch, turn the engine switch to ON.

5. Keep holding the "ODO TRIP" switch for approximately 5 seconds. Release the switch when the odometer begins to flash.

The update is complete after the odometer flashes for approximately 5 seconds and the display automatically returns to its normal operating state.

■ Outside temperature display

  • Under the following conditions, the displayed outside temperature may not accurately reflect the current ambient temperature, or the reading may require more time than usual to change.
    • When the vehicle is stopped or traveling at a low speed of less than 12 mph (20 km/h).
    • When the outside temperature changes suddenly, such as when entering or leaving a garage, tunnel, or similar enclosed area.
    • When "--" or "E" appears on the display, the temperature monitoring system may have a malfunction.

Have your Toyota RAV4 inspected by your Toyota dealer.

  • The outside temperature display operates within a range of -40°F (-40°C) to 122°F (50°C).
  • When the outside temperature is approximately 37°F (3°C) or lower, the indicator Low outside temperature warning indicator on the instrument display flashes for approximately 10 seconds and then remains illuminated, drawing attention to the low-temperature condition.

■ Customization

Selected settings, including meter display preferences, can be adjusted through the Meter customization settings icon on the multi-information display screen of the multi-information display. Available options allow the driver to configure how certain information is presented.

WARNING

■ The information display at low temperatures

Allow the interior of the Toyota RAV4 to warm up before relying on the liquid crystal information display. In extremely cold conditions, the screen may react more slowly than usual, and changes in the displayed information can be delayed.

For example, a brief delay may occur between shifting and the appearance of the new gear number on the display. If the driver assumes the shift was not completed and downshifts again, rapid and excessive engine braking may occur. This could cause a loss of control and lead to an accident resulting in death or serious injury.

NOTICE

■ To prevent damage to the engine and its components

  • Do not allow the tachometer needle to enter the red zone, as this area represents the maximum engine speed and continued operation within it may damage the engine.
  • The engine may be overheating if the engine coolant temperature gauge reaches the red zone marked "H". If this happens, stop the Toyota RAV4 immediately in a safe location and inspect the engine only after it has cooled completely.

Using the "ODO TRIP" switch

Pressing the "ODO TRIP" switch cycles the display through the odometer, trip meter A, and trip meter B. Each press advances to the next available mileage display.

When trip meter A or trip meter B is shown, press and hold the switch to reset the selected trip meter to zero. This allows separate journey distances to be measured as needed.

  2. Darker

■ Instrument panel brightness adjustment

The instrument panel brightness levels used when the tail lights are switched on and off can be adjusted independently, allowing the display illumination to suit different driving conditions.

However, when the surrounding environment is already bright, such as during daytime driving, switching on the tail lights may not change the instrument panel brightness.
