Toyota RAV4: Vehicle status information and indicators - Warning lights and indicators
The warning lights and indicators located in the instrument cluster, center panel, and outside rear-view mirrors provide the driver with essential information about the operating condition and current status of various Toyota RAV4 systems.
Instrument cluster
For explanatory purposes, the following illustrations show all warning lights and indicators illuminated simultaneously. During normal operation, only the symbols associated with the current driving conditions, active functions, or detected vehicle issues will appear.
■ With 7-inch multi-information display
The speedometer can be shown in either an analog-style or digital format. This selection allows the driver to choose the layout that provides the clearest and most convenient view while operating the Toyota RAV4.
When analog speedometer is displayed

Meter scales, measurement units, and the appearance of selected symbols are configured for the market in which the vehicle is sold.
When digital speedometer is displayed

Depending on regional specifications, the digital meter may present values in different units, while certain indicator designs may also vary.
■ With 12.3-inch multi-information display
The meter layout can be changed by selecting
on the multi-information display. Each available type arranges driving information differently while keeping important warning and status symbols visible to the driver.
Type 1

This illustration represents one regional configuration; the units and several dashboard symbols may not look identical on vehicles produced for other markets.
Type 2

Vehicles built to different market requirements may use another measurement format or display certain indicators in a slightly different position or style.
Type 3

The exact presentation shown in the meter is determined by the vehicle's regional configuration, so some units and visual details may differ from this example.
Warning lights
Warning lights alert the driver when a malfunction or abnormal operating condition is detected in the corresponding vehicle system. If a warning light remains illuminated or begins flashing, identify the symbol and follow the appropriate instructions for the Toyota RAV4.

*1: These lights illuminate when the engine switch is turned to ON, confirming that the Toyota RAV4 is performing an initial check of the corresponding systems. They should turn off after the engine starts or within several seconds. If a light fails to illuminate during the check or remains on afterward, the associated system may have a malfunction. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
*2: This warning appears on the multi-information display together with an explanatory message.
*3: The intuitive parking assist OFF indicator illuminates when the engine switch is turned to ON while the intuitive parking assist function is enabled. The indicator should go out after a few seconds.

WARNING
■ If a safety system warning light does not come on
If a safety-related warning light, including the ABS or SRS warning light, does not illuminate when the engine is started, the corresponding system may not be available to provide its intended protection during an accident. This condition could increase the risk of death or serious injury. If this occurs in your Toyota RAV4, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer immediately.
Indicators
The indicators keep the driver informed about the current operating state of the vehicle's lighting, driving assistance, convenience, and control systems. Depending on the active function, an indicator may illuminate steadily, change color, or flash to communicate a particular status.

*1: This light appears on the multi-information display together with a message that provides further information about the detected condition.
*2: The color of the indicator and whether it remains illuminated or flashes may change according to the current operating state of the corresponding function.
*3: This indicator illuminates when the associated system has been switched off.
*4: The intuitive parking assist OFF indicator comes on when the engine switch is turned to ON while the intuitive parking assist function is enabled. It should turn off after several seconds.
*5: These lights illuminate when the engine switch is turned to ON, indicating that the Toyota RAV4 is performing an initial check of the corresponding systems. They should go out after the engine starts or within a few seconds. If an expected light does not illuminate, remains on, or fails to turn off normally, the related system may have a malfunction. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
*6: This indicator illuminates in the outside rear-view mirrors rather than in the instrument cluster.
*7: When the outside temperature is approximately 37°F (3°C) or lower, the indicator flashes for about 10 seconds and then remains illuminated.
*8: This indicator is located on the center panel.
■ BSM (Blind Spot Monitor) outside rear-view mirror indicators (if equipped)
To verify that the Blind Spot Monitor is operating correctly, the BSM indicators built into the outside rear-view mirrors illuminate briefly under the following conditions:
- When the engine switch is turned to ON while the BSM function is already enabled on the
screen of the multi-information display. - When the BSM function is enabled through the
screen of the multi-information display while the engine switch is in ON.
When the system is functioning normally, the BSM outside rear-view mirror indicators will switch off automatically after several seconds. This brief illumination allows the driver to confirm that the indicators are available before operating the Toyota RAV4.
If the BSM outside rear-view mirror indicators do not illuminate during the check, remain on longer than expected, or fail to turn off, the Blind Spot Monitor may have a malfunction. In this situation, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
